TUMBA SWING - One Man Band

Tumba Swing is another one-man-band from Spain, this one decidedly rawer than his compatriot One Hand's Man Band, whom I posted before this. But this just goes to show that the INTERNATIONAL ONE-MAN-BAND REVOLUTION is worthy of capitals, like I'm screaming it off a roof. One guy/girl ramming away on a guitar and percussion, drowning out  their own lyrics, that if you would hear them would help you understand the secret to the seven seals enclosed in the book of revelation. 666. That said, I know nothing more about this guy than you, apart from the video below. But the word will be spread even further. Now.

Hey Syphilites,

I've been away from the one-man-bands for a while but this one was easy as it was sent straight into my inbox. One Hand Man's Band is a one-man-band from Spain, playing serious punk-blues. (By the way, do not confuse this act with One Man Hand, which is a one-man-band from Portugal). This guy reminds me a little bit of Jawbone. Good stuff.

 Let's Go Eskimo  are a blues/punk band from the Netherlands that you should listen to. Which you can. Because their demo can be downloaded for free from Soundcloud. Awesome.  Or listen to them below. By the way, these guys also opened for the Cut In the Hill Gang - the supergroup which a.o. consists of James Leg of the Black Diamond Heavies - (and holy fuckballs, have you listened to James Leg's solo-album yet?) - so, back to Let's Go Eskimo, these guys are in good company. Listen to their demo. And wait for their album to show itself.

King Louie is a one-man-band from Louisiana. He has released quite a bit of stuff, as you can read on his Myspace, but I can't find a lot easily. Maybe I can't be bothered, but the info is right there so follow the link above and go a-searching. I know you can get his 2004 album 'Chinese Crawfish' here. That's all I got.

I can't tell you much more on this guy than this video. His myspace is down. Or under a different name. I came across him when checking out the info on the 'One-man-bands, Hillbillys and Monsters' compilation by Dirty Ugly Records, which is for sale over at Squoodge for a mere 5.75 Euros. The comp also features Bloodshot Bill and Mosquito Bandito. And that is all I've got on this guy. For now.

Wild Mustang - Demo Download

Wild Mustang is the new kid on the block and you can download his demo from his Facebook page! I've been listening to it all evening. Great stuff, really. He reminds me a little bit of Jay Reatard. There is a little keyboard involved in there somewhere. How that makes a difference I don't know, but it does. It really does. He also makes cigarbox guitars (see photo) that you can by from here.

Dennis Hopper Choppers - new album 'Be Ready' behind the scenes footage

Hey Syphilites,

I know this blog has been weak/without quality posts for a few weeks. Things have been busy. I was studying again and I'm also planning my wedding. Exciting stuff. Anyway, this post redeems my vocal absence at least a bit. And later this week we can expect a full interview with M Jack Bee as well, so treats galore. 

Without further ado: I came across this one via the legendary compilation 'attack of the one-man-bands' released by Rock N Roll Purgatory (other website) in 2007. The Double CD is for sale at CDBaby for a mere $15 for 58 songs, or 26 cents/song.

Dennis Hopper Choppers (Ben Nicholls) is a one-man-band from Sussex in the UK. You can read his extensive BIO here on his own website. His music is pounding country/blues/punkish-psych stuff. Let's say it is hard to pin down.  His vocals are smooth and rockabilly-esque.  He is featured along with other one-man-bands, including Honkeyfinger, in a new documentary I just came across: 'One Man In the Band' by Adam Clitheroe. (Adam has also filmed a doco on the The Mighty Boosh on tour.) I want to tell you a lot more about this documentary at a later stage and I will at a later stage. In any case, Adam has recorded some backstage footage of Dennis Hopper Choppers recording his new album with producer Ben Hillier, who has previously worked with bands such as Depeche Mode.
