I am on indefinite hiatus from this blog, but visit my other blog 'Blues Fiction' which I update (slightly) more - any music that I like and will fit there will be added there, as well as poetry and literature links, videos, and my own writing. Skeez.

Koti and the Artctic Hollers

I'm on an indefinite hiatus
too much going on
and this blog
ticks over just fine
the way it is.

I will leave you with this

(Koti is also 'o Lendario Chucrobillyman' - I love Brazil)

And I will see you when I have space to think again.

Jesus and the Groupies - Black Heart Industry

Staying in Sao Paolo,
Jesus and the Groupies have just released their new album
Black Heart Industry
in easy free mp3 format.
This album lurches wildly
but effortlessly between genres
and needs some serious listening
but then it will grow on you
like a benign tumour.

They are also touring in Brazil.

The Human Trash - It's Not Human, It's Human Trash

The Human Trash', Sao Paolo's garage rock-gods' new LP is now available from Squoodge in beautiful beautiful vinyl.
The band has also made it available free for us non-vinyl-freaks to download.

This album deserves a proper review,
but I have too much happening,
and this is too good to keep to myself.

Let's Go Eskimo in the quarter final of 'De Grote Prijs van Nederland'

Sound quality nor picture quality are great, but you get the idea.

Download their demo here.

If I Had My Way - A Cigar Box Guitar Tribute to Blind Willie Johnson (FREE DOWNLOAD)

You can download a 28 song Cigar Box Guitar Tribute to Blind Willie Johnson here for free thanks to Shane Speal and the people from Cigar Box Nation

I've listened to it a few times now and I must say, this shit is awesome. The songs are diverse, and recorded at different quality-levels, but the general feeling of this thing is awesome. And free.
Download it.

TUMBA SWING - One Man Band

Tumba Swing is another one-man-band from Spain, this one decidedly rawer than his compatriot One Hand's Man Band, whom I posted before this. But this just goes to show that the INTERNATIONAL ONE-MAN-BAND REVOLUTION is worthy of capitals, like I'm screaming it off a roof. One guy/girl ramming away on a guitar and percussion, drowning out  their own lyrics, that if you would hear them would help you understand the secret to the seven seals enclosed in the book of revelation. 666. That said, I know nothing more about this guy than you, apart from the video below. But the word will be spread even further. Now.

One Hand's Man Band

Hey Syphilites,
I've been away from the one-man-bands for a while but this one was easy as it was sent straight into my inbox. One Hand Man's Band is a one-man-band from Spain, playing serious punk-blues. (By the way, do not confuse this act with One Man Hand, which is a one-man-band from Portugal). This guy reminds me a little bit of Jawbone. Good stuff.

This is him live in January of this year

And this is in June of 2010 in Madrid

Paul Cary - Ghost of a Man

I've been listening to this a lot. You should download it.
Think Tom Waits, think Nick Cave,
think William Elliott Whitmore
all rolled into one
for free

the deliciousness is found at Candy Dinner
a label that incidentally
is chockfull of free downloads
it thrives on it

Let's go Eskimo - Demo (2010)

Let's Go Eskimo  are a blues/punk band from the Netherlands that you should listen to. Which you can. Because their demo can be downloaded for free from Soundcloud. Awesome.  Or listen to them below. By the way, these guys also opened for the Cut In the Hill Gang - the supergroup which a.o. consists of James Leg of the Black Diamond Heavies - (and holy fuckballs, have you listened to James Leg's solo-album yet?) - so, back to Let's Go Eskimo, these guys are in good company. Listen to their demo. And wait for their album to show itself.

Carpathian Forest - weirdest go-go dancers ever....

I've got so much going on at the moment
and I apologise for not updating the blog often enough
in the mean time

What the hell is going on with these backing dancers?

Guadalupe Plata - self-titled (2011) FREE DOWNLOAD

There is so much more I could say about this great album
free album
but all I will tell you
Guadalupe Plata is weird punk-blues with an Iberic twist
think
'Tito and Tarantula' that band from 'From Dusk Till Dawn'
but then better.
Lots better.

Hastings 3000 at SXSW

One Man Band Hastings 3000 at SXSW (from 3:30) on Episode 6 of the Lazy Day Lounge  - Star and Micey open de video with some folk-tunes that are unfortunately hard to hear due to a siren screaming throughout nearly their whole bit.

The Backseat Drivers - Walkabout EP

Hey Syphilites,

I posted two EP's by the Backseat Drivers before here. This is their newest one: Walkabout, made available by the band the band themselves and their label Mamma Vendetta. A great EP, but you will have to let it grow on you - first I thought it sounded like noise - then things started to merge and I realised there was sense in the madness - A psych/bubble gum-pop mixture so volatile it will make your hips gyrate as if possessed.

The band was supported
on the EP
by acts
such as

You want this.
