Brett Detar - Bird in the Tangle (Free Album, re-post)

I already posted this back in December last year
but I just want to remind you that
Brett Detar's 'Bird in the Tangle'
is still free to download from Brett himself.

I was listening to it again yesterday and the day before
and think you should really give this album a try.
Why? Because it is good and free,
like you.
Get it here:

Cheese Finger Brown

Sweet Jesus my dear Syphilites,

This is incredible: Cheese Finger Brown is a Dutch One-Man-Band residing in Finland. He sounds like a mix of C.W. Stoneking - Charlie Patton  - Abner Jay - A genuine one-man minstrel show.

There is a great article about Cheese Finger Brown on audioscribbler.co.uk right here. There is an email you can contact if you want to buy records, but I'm not sure if it is still in use. I am in the process of finding out for you, my Syphilites, where and how we can buy his stuff. Because I want it, and after you listen to these videos and me the songs in his myspace, you will want to buy his gear too.

As always. When I know more, you will know more.

Cocaine Blues - Keith Richards, Townes van Zandt, Reverend Gary Davis

Hey Syphilites,

No, I'm not suffering of the Cocaine Blues, but it is a pretty awesome song. I thought I'd find you a couple of recordings of the song done by the classics.

Pretty Nice recording of Keith Richards singing the song:

Here is Townes van Zandt doing the same:

And the ultimate classic, Reverend Gary Davis:

Brett Detar - Bird in the Tangle (Free Album)

Hey Syphilites,

Brett Detar's new album is available free via his website. I listened to it a couple of times last night. Folk-country with good lyrics. Very relaxed.

Mosey on over there and get downloading! You can find him via Facebook as well. There are also premium packages with bonus songs, (signed) LP's, and t-shirts and such if you dig it very very much.

If you download, do remember to share this find with others.

(I came across this music via A Truer Sound music blog)

Phantom of the Black Hills

This shit is weird. Phantom of the Black Hills make thrash-a-billy/cow-punk - a screaming amalgamation of old-timey folk sounds with outlaw flavour and thrash/punk infused guitars. I have their first album 'Ghosts' - worth a listen.

But first, how it feels to be scalped:

And now time for some music:

'Men Call Me Mad'

And 'Confessions of a Barn Burner'

Their website and their myspace. Website is definitely worth a visit.
